How To Play Warped Space
Starting the Game
First you need the game. Grab it from the App Store by clicking here.
Once you have the game on your device, look for the reddish-orange ‘W’ icon. That starts the game.
If you wanted music playing (since Warped Space does not have music), you should have started that through the iPhone/iPod’s music library. The music will continue to play while running Warped Space.
When you start the game up for the first time it will inform you that you should set your username so any highscores you post will be recognized as yours. This alert will also take you to the Options Menu. In this menu you can set your username and choose your difficulty. Exit this menu by hitting the blue arrow button in the bottom right.
Hit the “Level Select” button to choose a level. The arrows let you browse through the list of levels. The “Play” button starts the level of choice for you. The “Menu” button sends you back to the main menu.
Choose a level like TutorialOne with the orange arrows and hit the button labelled “Play”.
Playing a Level
“Where do I shoot this thing to?”. See the planets with greens and blues that resemble Earth? Those are the targets/starts.
“How do you aim?”.Your finger tip controls the end of the launch vector for your projectile. That is the direction and velocity you launch your projectile with. The launch vector is a white line with a white circle on the end of it. The circle will become more red if you’re using lots of force.
If you have chosen a difficulty other than “Insane” there will be a wiggly line called the prediction curve. This line shows you where your projectile will go for a limited distance. How large of a distance is determined by your difficulty. Its color is determined by the launch velocity (red means lots, green means little).
When you’re done aiming a set of grey circles with a small white circle in their center’s will appear. That fine tunes your launch vector when you touch it.
“Fire” and “I Quit” buttons also appear when you’re done aiming. “Fire” launches your projectile. “I Quit” takes you back to the Level Select menu.
“I missed the target and the thing I shot keeps going…” If you missed and want to cancel the shot while its out in space, just tap anywhere on the screen. Alternatively you can also wait for the 30 second timer (top center) to run out.
Getting a Good Score
Now that you know how to play, maybe you want to start beating your friends’ scores. The first suggestion is to go back to the “Options” menu and make the difficulty something other than “Easy”. The harder your difficulty is the higher your multipliers can be.
The key to high scores is to use as little initial force as possible, but still make it to the target planet. Be gentler and keep that finger closer to the start planet. This affects your multipliers too.
Second, the longer you’re in flight the higher your score. So try and get your flights to last as close to 30 seconds as possible.
However, this doesn’t mean you can just shoot off into space and hit the target planet later. Your score is also proximity based. The closer the projectile is to the planets, the higher your score.
Basically, make intricate paths around planets and try and use the smallest initial force on the highest difficulty. Every time you get a good score, submit it. It won’t hurt you if its worse than your old scores. Warped Space is smart enough that it will only save the best score for each level.
Checking Scores
So now you want to see yourself at the top of the charts. In order to use the high score feature you need to be connected to the Internet. This guide assumes you’re connected and/or know how to connect to the internet with your iPhone/iPod Touch. If you’re not connected and you try and see the highscores, Warped Space will tell you that you need to be connected to the internet.
“How do I see the next 10 scores?”. If there are more than ten scores there will be a button in the bottom right. If you cannot see the bottom right, scroll just like you would in Safari.
If there are higher scores than the ones you can see, there will be a button, just like with the next 10 scores, but this time its on the bottom left and it reads “Previous 10″.
“How do I exit the Highscores?”. Hit that blue-white arrow button in the top right and you’ll return to the Main Menu.
Exiting the Game
Hit the “Home” button on your device. Psst… it’s the button with the rounded-corner square on it.
“Can you…” if you really need to ask questions, go to our contact page and choose the method best for you.
